D.R.I.V.E. is a component of Danvers High School. The initiative was started to provide students with an alternative to the typical high school experience. Students enrolled in D.R.I.V.E. are provided with smaller class sizes, hands-on learning experiences, teachers trained to provide consistent multi-sensory instruction, community-based learning, and a chance to work with a job coach to gain meaningful work experience.
The students enrolled in D.R.I.V.E. are provided with multi-sensory, engaging lessons combined with real world work experience. This combination, aimed to increase student interest and motivation, focuses on five areas: Diversity, Respect, Integrity, Vision, and Excellence (D.R.I.V.E.).
D – Diversity in the classroom means we appreciate each student's learning style, background, and cultural differences. R – Respect will always be given to the teacher and by the teacher, to the students and by the students. I – Integrity will be measured by our willingness to "do what we say we are going to do." V – Vision will give us the insight to plan for our future by working hard today. E – Excellence = Expectations will be very high. You don’t know what you’re capable of until you achieve it. |
